Hello Ingrid! So glad to see you all grown up. You are so beautiful, just like your Aunt Peggy. So you have never heard one hand clapping? It sounds something like this. . . .

I use the phrase as a metaphor, to me speaking to someone who always agrees with me is the same as the sound of one hand clapping, sort of pointless. I have a message in the gospel and I need to speak to those who don't understand it.
